The concept behind Double Standard DWI the game
Double Standard DWI the game was invented to be Entertaining as well as Educational. The game does not focus on the real life devastating and tragic effects of DWI. However the game does focus on the Social & Economic climate surrounding DWI. The game echoes the public sentiment, which is to say it is neither wise nor safe to operate a vehicle while Drunk. The game teaches that this is an ongoing problem facing our society and, unfortunately, one still to be solved. The Entertainment part of the game shows that there are segments of our society that have seized on the various opportunities and financial benefits to be gained by supporting increasingly stringent DWI laws. Lets call this "Group A." This group can be found at the forefront of increasing DWI legislation and enforcement, which coincidentally positions them to reap the benefits of a steady source of income from the "DWI industry." These ever increasing laws were never envisioned to affect them. However, every once in a while one from this group is involved in a high visibility DWI incident and possessing the right connections, knowing the right name to mention, or at least producing a current PBA or 200 Club card cannot help. If one took the time to follow a high visibility incident through the court system, one would learn that every defense imaginable gets employed (such as misplaced or lost breathalyzer records, endless postponements, etc) to evade the full consequences of the DWI laws. Laws that the ordinary civilian is subject to without such evasions. Needless to say just reading the numerous nationwide accounts of DWI incidents, there has to be countless roadside DWI incidents where a "group A" individual has been involved that never reach public scrutiny. I am sure we have all encountered these individuals on our roads & highways, most likely having a nice shiny Gold or Silver Emblem in their rear window announcing that the driver is one of their own and not subject to traffic citations. These sorts suggested the appropriate title of the name of this game "Double Standard DWI the Game." This
Special Interest Club mentioned above has profited and still
continues to profit as more & more stringent laws are passed
to combat this thing we call DWI. Its members can be identified
as belonging to the following cartels, groups, and organizations
dispersed throughout our society.
On the other side of the coin is the balance of society "all others," which can be referred to as "group B." The make-up of "group B" is the majority of public driving civilians who have no political or social connections. This group runs the gamete from law-abiding citizens to habitual offenders. In particular, we identify in the game the "Deewie," a driver who is oblivious to the law, ignores all warnings, and has no understanding of the public sentiment. This person enters the game with one DWI and still continues to drink and drive. While there are habitual offenders in each group, in reality a "Deewie" from "group B" is treated much differently than a "Deewie" from "group A". However, as this is a game and should be fun as well as educational, it also contains all the ingredients found in our society such as Greed, Power & Money. These elements will be revisited throughout the game, which should prove entertaining. And unlike the real world, players can wind up playing the game as a part of either "group A or B" communities with the pick of a card. Enforcement and prosecution for DWI varies from state to state. However, "group A" as identified above can be found thriving financially throughout the country in some locations more than others depending on the political climate of a particular state.
Each player represents a driver and a special interest group from society, which are assigned by initial card draws along with randomly selected Helping Hand cards and a Destination card. The player uses one of several game pieces to represent a driver, which is placed on the game board from a Card designated start point with the intention to reach his/her designated destination. The player pieces are moved along the board spaces according to the result of rolling a pair of dice. As
the player's game piece lands upon special board locations, the
player will have to draw a card from one of the specific card
decks. Each card possibly bears good news or a driving infraction,
which the player must deal with using Societal, game roles or
possessed Helping Hand Cards. The game includes a complete instruction
booklet setting forth the rules of the game. Conclusion Emil Richard Rossi Inventor |
